Your Path to Enrolment Starts Here

From initial enquiry to your first day of class, the admissions process is straightforward and human. No entrance exam, no algorithm — just a conversation about your goals.

Who We Accept

We Evaluate Motivation, Not Pedigree

NorthCode Academy does not require a computer science degree, a prior portfolio, or a standardized test score. Our admissions process is designed to identify people who will thrive in an intensive learning environment — regardless of their professional background. A 2023 internal review found that our highest-performing graduates included a former paramedic, an accountant, and a line cook. What they shared was not technical aptitude at entry, but consistency, curiosity, and the willingness to sit with discomfort when code breaks at 4 PM on a Friday.

For foundational tracks like Full-Stack Web Development and UX/UI Design, we accept applicants with zero prior coding experience. Advanced tracks — Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity, and DevOps — do assume baseline familiarity with at least one programming language and fundamental networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and subnetting. If you are unsure which track fits, our admissions team will help you assess readiness during a 20-minute phone screen, entirely free of charge.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to study in Canada. International students holding a valid study permit are welcome. We do not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, ethnicity, or prior education level — the oldest graduate in our 2024 cohort was 57.

Application Process

Five Steps From Enquiry to Day One

The entire process typically takes 10 to 14 working days. We do not use rolling deadlines or artificial scarcity — applications close only when a cohort reaches its 24-seat capacity.

  1. 01

    Submit Your Online Application

Fill in the short form below with your name, contact details, and the program that interests you. You will also answer two open-ended questions: why you want to transition into tech, and what you hope to be doing 12 months after graduating. There is no word limit, and we value honesty over polish. Average completion time is 8 minutes.

  2. 02

    Phone Screen With Admissions

Within 5 working days, a member of our admissions team will schedule a 20-minute call. This is not a technical interview. We discuss your background, learning style, and time availability to confirm the right track and schedule. For advanced programs, we may ask a few conceptual questions about your existing skills — nothing you would need to study for.

  3. 03

Receive Your Offer & Choose a Payment Plan

Accepted applicants receive an offer letter via email within 3 working days of the phone screen. The letter outlines your cohort start date, schedule, and tuition. You then select a payment option — full upfront with a 5% discount, a four-instalment plan at no extra cost, or extended financing through our third-party partners. A $500 deposit secures your seat.

  4. 04

    Complete Pre-Work Module

After confirming your seat, you gain access to a self-paced online pre-work package — roughly 20 hours covering terminal basics, Git fundamentals, and key vocabulary for your track. Pre-work ensures everyone arrives at day one with a shared foundation, regardless of prior background. A teaching assistant is available by email throughout this phase if you get stuck.

  5. 05

Day One: Orientation & First Sprint

You arrive at our Toronto campus for a half-day orientation covering campus logistics, tooling setup, and cohort introductions. By the afternoon, you are paired with your first coding partner and begin Sprint 0 — a structured warm-up project designed to verify your pre-work knowledge and get you writing real code from hour one.

Tuition & Financing

Flexible Payment Options for Every Budget

We believe financial constraints should not prevent capable people from entering the technology sector. That is why we offer multiple payment paths with no hidden fees.

Pay in Full

Settle your entire tuition before the cohort start date and receive a 5% early-payment discount. This is the simplest option — one transaction, no ongoing obligations, and the lowest total cost. A $500 deposit is required at offer acceptance, with the balance due 14 days before day one.

Most Popular

Four-Instalment Plan

Split your tuition into four equal payments at zero additional cost. The first instalment is due at offer acceptance, with the remaining three billed monthly. No interest, no fees, no credit check. This plan is managed directly by NorthCode Academy — no third-party intermediary.

Extended Financing

For terms beyond four months, we partner with Canadian lending providers who offer plans up to 36 months. Interest rates and eligibility vary by provider; our admissions team will walk you through the options during your offer call. Approval decisions are typically returned within 48 hours.
